Places to visit in Japan:
Nikko

A small yet mesmerizing town housing the Nikko National Park, Nikko is quite famous for Toshugu, Japan’s most lavishly decorated shrine and the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. For many centuries, it continued to be the center of Shinto and Buddhist Mountain worship. However, in the 1600s, when Toshugu was built, the majority of people started offering their prayers there and Nikko National Park retained its popularity by offering scenic views, mountainous landscapes, lakes, waterfalls, hot springs, hiking trails as well as wild monkeys.

Hakone

Another beautiful town near the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, Hakone is just a hundred kilometers away from Tokyo and has gained popularity lately for its hot springs, natural beauty, and the view across Lake Ashinoko (near Mount Fuji). Tourists who are looking out for a break from Tokyo can explore Hakone and take some unforgettable memories at home. Some of the top attractions of this region include the Open Air Museum, Owakudani, Lake Ashinoko, Hakone Shrine, Pola Museum, Okada Museum of Art, Enoura Observatory, Komagatake Ropeway, and Choanji Temple.

Miyajima Island

The official name of this place is Itsukushima. Addressed mainly as “shrine island”, Miyajima is a small island nearby Hiroshima and the main buildings of this shrine are constructed over water. Since it is a romantic place, couples cannot afford to miss visiting it. There are a large number of wild deer found on this island that have become accustomed to people and keep on wandering without harming tourists. Some of the top attractions of this region include Mount Misen, Daisho-in-Temple, Senjokaku, Walking Trails, and Museum of History.

In general, many wild species bloom from March to April in the Northern Hemisphere. Fukiage Garden

It is primarily used as the residential area of the Imperial family and was inaugurated in the year 1993. There is a palace in the northern section of the Imperial Palace known as the Fukiage Ōmiya Palace. It was inaugurated as the residence of Emperor Showa and Empress Kōjun (the Fukiage Palace) but after the Emperor’s death, it was renamed the Fukiage Ōmiya Palace.

Ninomaru Garden

A hub of symbolic trees that represents a picture-perfect Japan, this garden is situated at the north-western corner of Ninomaru enceinte. There are a total of 260 species of plants that covers 30 varieties. This garden was originally planted by Kobori Enshu in the year 1636 who was a garden designer. Couples can visit this romantic garden and try their hands on photography.

Couples can also visit a public park called Kitanomaru which is also the site of Nippon Budokan Hall.

Kinkaku-ji

Popularly known as the “Temple of the Golden Pavilion”, its official name is Rokuon-ji. It is a Zen Buddhist temple situated in Kyoto of Japan and has been declared a National Special Historic Site. Also, it holds the record of being one of the 17 locations that make up the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto (World Heritage Sites).

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

Situated at the heart of Hiroshima, Japan, it is a memorial park dedicated to the legacy of Hiroshima and the direct and indirect victims of the nuclear attack at the end of World War II. More than a million people visit this memorial park to offer their tributes every year. This park was designed by a famous architect of Japan Kenzō Tange.

Spring and autumn is the best period to visit Japan. These are those times of the year when Japan remains at its most vibrant phase with cherry blossoms and bright red leaves.
